SMOOTH SHEET RUBBER FLOORING 500-L
Resilience, dimensional stability and endurance are natural characteristics of rubber flooring. Maintenance is minimal. Underfoot comfort is excellent. Most important, it retains its beauty and luster for years and years under the most grueling use. It’s the ideal choice for schools, hospitals, extended care and multi-purpose areas including corridors, gymnasiums, auditoriums, classrooms, patient rooms, theaters, cafeterias and other meeting rooms.
In addition to the marbleized colors shown, many non-standard colors are available in minimum quantities; we can also do custom marbleized colors. Contact our customer service department for additional information. Smooth and raised pattern stair treads (with matching cove risers and stringer) are available in a variety of patterns in most of our standard marbleized colors. Install with Musson #560 adhesive or #775 Epoxy.
Key Features/Benefits:
- A dramatic reduction in the total lineal feet of seams – an especially important feature for healthcare applications.
- Excellent dimensional stability. Will not shrink like other floorings can.
- Requires no sanding, repainting or special surface treatment.
- Can be "flash coved"- turned up on the wall to eliminate a dirt - catching cove base seam.
- "Flow" of marbled look not interrupted by cutting to achieve a floor pattern, or when inserting a special design or logo. Patterns, game lines, etc. are cut into the floor at the time of installation eliminating the need to repaint lines.
- Flooring, stair treads and landing tile are easily design coordinated. The color and pattern range is exceptionally broad. Plus we have a custom color option to meet your individual design needs.
- Soft underfoot and comfortable to walk on.
- Withstands scuffing, grinding and heavy foot traffic. With a top-to-bottom wear surface, rubber flooring is not only long lasting, but it will look good for years.
- Does not need special waxes, sealers, dressings or other finishes to maintain its appearance. This reduces expensive labor and chemical costs. Hence, maintenance costs are significantly reduced.

Cost Comparison
Rubber Flooring Least Expensive Over 15 Years
A Florida Hospital (Orlando) fifteen year life-cycle study of VCT, sheet vinyl, carpet and rubber clearly documented that the lowest initial cost hard surface floor, VCT, was the most expensive floor over time when replacement, maintenance and cleaning costs are considered. This 1999 study by Suzanne R. Barnes, AIA, CFM, consultant and former Assistant Director of Design (Florida Hospital-Office of Design) included 1,000 sq. ft. of each surface installed in the hospital’s pediatric unit. Rubber proved the least expensive when cleaning, maintenance and replacement costs were totaled after fifteen years of use.
“Rubber was half the cost to clean/maintain than the other hard surfaces requiring finish, since it is a product that does not scratch or mar easily. Rubber does not require use of expensive finishes or as much maintenance as the other floor surfaces.”
| Product Studied | Cost to clean/maintain 1,000 sq/ft over 15 years |
| Rubber | 2 times initial installed cost |
| Carpet | 4 times initial installed cost |
| VCT | 6 times initial installed cost |
| Sheet Vinyl | 7 times initial installed cost |
Studies have proven that rubber flooring is the least expensive flooring alternative over time - saving a facility more than $30 per square foot over a 15-year period.
